have a desire to know and experience God and each other, as well as
serve and be friends with people in our region and in other parts of
the world. We work to become the best people we can become, yet we
realize we all are "in process" which means everyone is welcome no
matter what their life circumstances may be.
What are Sunday Mornings like?
Sunday
mornings are like coming home to friends and family after being away
for a few days. Our atmosphere is relaxed and casual. We are glad to
see each other and enjoy catching up over coffee. The service begins around 10 am when we join with the band to express our
thankfulness and love for God through passionate music. During worship
you may see people reflecting quietly, or kneeling, at other times you
may see people clapping with the music or raising their hands, possibly
even dancing. All of these are outward physical expressions of an
internal spiritual reality that can be different for each of us. One
can find these forms of praise and worship described in the Bible, but
they are also common in our culture. If you have ever been to a
concert or sporting event you will see many of the same activities.
Usually after this part of the service we will pause for announcements
of upcoming events and activities followed by an offering, which is an
opportunity for us to support the mission of Rock Creek Church
financially. There is never any pressure to give and as our guest
you're free to choose how you would like to participate. Following the offering we transition
to the teaching time of the service. Pastor James endeavors to bring a
message that is relevant, encouraging and challenging, presented in a
relaxed, engaging and fun style. Rock Creek is a safe place where
caring and trained people are ready and available to speak with you or
offer prayer and encouragement. Our hope is that where ever you are on
your journey you will be enriched. After the service there are
refreshments available in the foyer where Pastor James and his wife
